Artist DetailsHelge LeibergAfter attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, Helge Leiberg worked in the fields of film, free jazz, dance, and their multi-medial interrelationships. In his paintings and sculptures, Leiberg examines the social space of human encounters. With their dancing movements, his figures seem to be experiencing everyday situations, as well as expressing existential themes such as life, death and love. The artist’s statement is transported through the expressive, dance-like composition, which is especially vivid in his large-scale three-dimensional sculptures. It is this that Leiperg sees extended in his performance work with dancers. |
